Ammar Ahmed
THE ARTIST SAYS:
“I got into drawing and painting back in 2016, when I was 17. I had no former training in art and started from scratch. I studied Art and Design in my A levels, but worked mostly on my own. I have sold a few pieces and have a few available as well, both on my instagram and facebook, but since I’m particularly fascinated by hyper and photo realism, the rate at which I produce my work can be low”.

Oh man!!! You are super talented. Those artworks seem so real. At first I was like, “are these photographs?” Just amazing 🖤 🖤

Hi Jaya! Ammar’s drawings are so detailed and realistic indeed! He is very good and definitely deserves to visit his social media for more of his work. He has a Facebook page and Instagram. There are links under his introductory paragraph!

Wow! To have got to that standard from starting only a short while ago. 😮

I know! He is absolutely brilliant. When I first came across his art I stopped for a second to check if it was a photograph. This short of art is very impressive and I am sure it requires loads of skill and time.
Surprisingly though, a number of people have given negative feedback since yesteday. I would have thought everyone appreciates how tricky it is to produce this sort of art!

How strange, I wonder why there would be any negative feedback.
For me, realism isn’t my aim. I think the closest I’ve got to trying was with a drawing of a glass http://stevekiddart.com/2017/11/14/drink-%f0%9f%a5%83-up/
But I do think that if you’ve got the ability to do realism as a ‘copy of a photo’ then that serves as a great point to then add your own creativity into the mix and create something that is so much more than a technically impressive work. From what I see, Ammar is on the way at a rapid pace.
Good stuff 👏🏻👏🏻

Exactly. I do pay respect to the skill and patience of people who can draw hyper realism. I think though people are comparing these to actual photographs, forgeting it is a different form of art.
We might actually need to make a clear distinction between photography and painting (or other visual arts) and be “honest” to the different style and techniques involved in each case.
This is a very good topic of discussion actually!

It is indeed – and one which no doubt could roll on and on and on.
A quick scan of the comments of Instagram of those who do hyperrealist art shows that many regard it done well almost as an “ultimate” art form. However, looking in almost any “bricks and mortar” art gallery it tends to be very different stuff hanging on the wall.
